DECA OFFICER LEADERSHIP TRIP 2019

LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES:
As the day began at Macedonia State Park, the 2019 DECA officers took part in several different activities led by Wide Angle Visions, with each activity demonstrating different team building skills that can relate to the real world. The activities consisted of:

Blind Folded Guidance

Officers broke into teams of two, guiding each other through Macedonia State Park following the leader from Wide Angle Visions. However, the task was to be done without speaking, in order to represent the bonds of trust a successful team must have among one another.

Assisted Walking

Each officer took a turn inside of the enlarged drawing compass while the remaining officers held onto the strings attached. Those outside, worked together to pull and balance the officer inside of the compass until 5 sizable steps were taken. This activity helped to demonstrate the balance and teamwork needed to reach an intended goal.
Two Finger Raising

Beginning with a simple trust fall exercise, the two finger raising activity quickly escalated into something more. Each officer would take their turn being raised by the other officers with no more than two fingers. The activity eventually evolved into one lucky volunteer being rotated upside down in the hands of their teammates. This activity represented the sense of trust and teamwork that should exist when needing to rely on a colleague.

ROCK CLIMBING:

The officers later ventured to a new Kent location in order to take part in some rock climbing activities. Once again instructed by Wide Angle Vision, the officers challenged themselves through what was many of their first times rock climbing on this perfect fall afternoon.
